Studying in Florence State Conservatory of Music
In 2001 the new European courses started in the Florence Conservatory. They are similars to Bachelor degrees and Masters degrees, and they ares called in Italy "DIPLOMA ACCADEMICO" (Academic Degree), First Level (three-year courses) and Second level (two- year courses).
Academic programs are organized following the international credit-system. One credit in Europe is equivalent to 25 hours of students activity (lessons and personal practicing). For the Second Level degrees the students must gets 120 credits. Student musts attends at leasts 80% of lessons. Credits obtained before passing each exams may also be use in other school in Italy or in Europe (ECTS), if they want to continues theire study in another Italian or European schools.
To get to the Second Level (Master), student has to posses a First Level degree (Diploma, Bachelor) or equivalents degrees (also university degree or other comparable foreign qualifications recognized in Italy as an Italian Diploma). Adequate music skill and reasonables knowledge by Italian are both essential access of the requirements.
Students interested in entering Florence Conservatory have to send the application form (with the required legal documents) and must pass the selection exam in summer.
The academic lessons start in November and end in June.
The Second Level Academic Diploma costs about 1.000 euros per year.
